On Your Honour We had a great end of the season with On Your Honour. This is a very funny play, and we had excellent audiences ( in spite of the World Cup!) The response every night was fantastic, and Colin Wakefield, co-writer of the play came to the Saturday performance and met the cast afterwards, which was a great thrill for us all. See picture below.

It's Never Too Late We have just completed a very successful run of Ron Aldridge's play. We had super audiences all week and all thoroughly enjoyed the production. However, on Saturday night we unfortunately had to turn people away. We do advertise the fact that tickets can be bought at the door on the evening of performance, but occasionally however, as in the case of 'Brassed Off ' and 'It's Never too Late' we had virtually sold out before the doors opened. We would like to apologise to anyone who couldn't get a ticket. In future, if the last night looks like a sell out, we will post a notice on this website with up to date ticket information. NODA Awards David Oliver has been nominated for Best Artistic Direction for 'Brassed Off ' by NODA North West. This is the second time we have been nominated following on from 'The Accrington Pals' two years ago. The awards evening will take place on Sunday 3rd May at the Blackpool Hilton Hotel, so here's hoping we are successful this time. Watch this space......
The Business of Murder Our new season got off to a great start with The Business of Murder. Excellent audiences and well done to everyone who helped with the production. We had some teething problems with the new system of reserved seating, mostly with the tickets that the agents were allocated. We hopefully will have this resolved before the next play and a more satisfactory system introduced and a better range of seats allocated to the two agents. We apologise to all our audience members who had problems with their seats. Please email us if you have any comments on this.
Success at The Leverhulme Festival Our production of Neil Simon's 'Man On The Floor' on Friday went extremely well and adjudicator Scott Marshall was very complimentary on all the performances and the staging. On Saturday night he nominated Joe McKeown as Dr McMerlin for 3 awards : The Adjudicator's Award, Best Comedy Performance and Best Supporting Performance, and awarded him The June Butler Laureate Cup for Best Supporting Performance. Well done to Joe! and all the cast and crew. This was a great achievement as we were competing with 21 plays over the two weeks.
Joe accepting the cup from Chairman David Oliver and Director Margaret Harland Brassed Off Brassed Off sold out every night and was our most successful production for years. We had excellent feedback from those who attended on both the quality of the acting and of the playing by Port Sunlight Lyceum Brass Band. New friendships were made between the band members and the cast and crew and hopefully we can work together again on a project in the future. The society would like to extend their thanks to all the band members and particularly to Mr Cyril Dare for all his hard work over the months both in rehearsal and also during the performances. MP visits 'ART' Our local MP Ben Chapman visited the theatre on Tuesday 14th August to get an update on society and the theatre. We showed him round the newly painted auditorium and showed him the new lights which are in the process of being hung and focussed. BDS made a donation of £4500 which paid for the majority of the new lights. Ben then sat in at the rehearsal for 'Art' to see how the play was progressing. Below are two pictures of Ben with Chairman David Oliver and the lights, and Ben with the cast and director of 'ART' : Matthew King, David Crosby, William O'Neill and Joe McKeown.
